525,057. Controlling change-speed gearing. SCHOENING, P., SCHOENING, A., and SHOENING, B. Feb. 13, 1939, No. 4691. Convention date, March 3, 1938. [Class 80 (ii)] In a hydraulic control of one or more gearshifter rods 9 wherein a pre-selective distributervalve 6 is put into communication with a pressure-pump 1 or accumulator through an executive-valve 4, which is normally open and is closed through a rack 15 by movement of a lever 12 to disengage a main-clutch 11, an additional valve 16 is arranged in the pressure-conduit 5 between the executive-valve 4 and the distributer-valve 6, the additional valve 16 being automatically closed by the clutch-control at the completion of a change. During normal running, Fig. 4, the valve 16 vents the input-line 17 of the distributer-valve 6 to exhaust 19, relieving it of any pressure so that the distributer-valve can easily be turned for pre-selective operation without having to stop the machine. During a change, the operation of the lever 12 to disengage the main-clutch 11 closes the executivevalve 4 thereby venting the main feeder-line 5 and relieving the pressure previously acting through a branch-line 18 on a piston-face 32 of the valve 16. A spring 21 thereupon moves the valve 16 to its extreme upper position, cutting off the branch-line 18 and vent-line 19 and connecting the feeder-line 5 with the distributervalve line 17. During re-engagement of the main-clutch 11 by return movement of the lever 12, the executive valve 4 is re-opened, putting the feeder-line 5, and with it the distributervalve line 17 under pressure, whereby the preselected change is effected. Towards the completion of clutch re-engagement, a projection 28 moving with the clutch-control presses the valve 16 downwardly to a position, Fig. 3, in which the pressure in the branch-line 18 can act on the piston-face 32, whereupon the valve 16 is rapidly moved to and held in its lower running position, Fig. 4, venting the distributer-valve 6.
