Abstract
523,328. Lubricating systems. TECALEMIT, Ltd. Dec. 30, 1938, No. 37926. Convention date, .Feb. 23, 1938. Addition to 513,707. [Class 12 (iii)] The invention of the parent Specification is modified by providing means for initiating the operation of the driving means of the lubricant pump, and means responsive to a predetermined pressure in the lubricant delivery line for stopping the said driving means automatically. The means for initiating the operation of the pump driving means may be operated automatically and periodically. As shown, a pump 9 delivers lubricant through piping 7 to the lubricant injectors 3, and a relief valve 31 causes a reduction of pressure in the piping 7 after operation of the injectors to reset the latter, as in the parent Specification. The pump 9 is driven by an air motor 15 having an air supply valve 19 which is open when a solenoid 61 is energized. When the relief valve 31 is actuated it opens a switch 81. For a single operation of the system a switch 65 is moved to close momentarily contacts 67, 69 to energise a coil 79 which actuates and holds closed a switch 87 to energise the solenoid 61. The pump 9 then operates the injectors 3 and when the relief valve 31 moves, the switch 81 is opened to de-energize the coil 79, open the switch 87, and thus close the valve 19 and stop the air motor 15. Before a second operation of the. lubricating system can occur the switch 65 must again be moved to close the contacts 67, 69. If the lubricant piping 7 is long, one or more bleeder valves 103 may be included in the system. Such valves relieve the oil pressure in the piping 7 whenever the air motor 15 is stopped and as shown each valve 103 is actuated by a solenold 113 in parallel with the solenoid 61. For periodic automatic autuation of the lubricating system the switch 65 is moved to connect permanently contacts 67, 71 and cause continuous rotation of a motor 117. The latter drives through gearing a pair of relatively adjustable cams 121 having followers which permit contacts 123 to be opened and closed over a certain period during each revolution of the cam shaft. Closure of the contacts 123 energizes a motor 115. This motor likewise has cams 139 and contacts 141 and when the latter are closed the solenoids 61, 113 are energized and the lubricating system operates as before. An electric motor connected across the contacts 85, 93, may replace the air motor 15. In a modification a single timing motor replaces the motors 115, 117. In other modifications the end of the spindle of the relief-valve 31 acts directly either to break the circuit through the driving motor of the pump 9, or to close the valve controlling the air supply to the driving air motor. Specification 523,327, and U.S.A. Specifications. 1,633,304, 1,654,673, and 1,704,238 are referred to.
