Abstract
522,263. Electric collectors. SIEMENS APPARATE UND MASCHINEN GES. Dec. 3, 1938. No. 35313. Convention date, Dec. 3, 1937. [Class 38 (i)] An instrument such as a gyroscope, mounted on gimbals, is supplied with current through a contact member mounted on the inner frame and extending around the outer frame to engage its co-operating contact on the axis of rotation. Thus a conducting member 9 fixed to the gyroscope casing 1 extends around the gimbal frame 4 and is bent over to engage a contact 7 mounted on and insulated from a bearing cap 6, on the frame 4, the engagement taking place in the axis of rotation 3-3. Slots 10 in the frame 4 allow relative rotation of the frame and casing through 180 degrees. In a modification sets of contacts are provided at each bearing 3 the conducting members 9 being three in number and nested to engage respectively with three similarly nested arms mounted on the frame 4.
