Abstract

520,955. Photographic cameras. KODAK, Ltd. Nov. 4, 1938, No. 31988. Convention date, Nov. 5, 1937. [Class 98 (i) ] In a photographic camera in which the shutter speed setting is governed by a light-sensitive cell which controls the deflection of a pointer constituting a stop for an element associated with the shutter mechanism, a light reflecting member 16 is positioned to receive light through the camera objective 10 and to reflect it on to the light-sensitive cell 17, and means provided for holding the pointer 34 in its deflected position are so coupled with the light deflecting member 16 that the latter is moved out of the path of the light rays substantially at the same time as the pointer 34 is blocked in its deflected position. Preferably, the means for holding the pointer comprise a pivotally mounted comb member 35, which is held clear of the pointer by a lever 37 when the roller-blind shutter, which is of the kind described in Specification 520,957, is fully wound. The camera is pointed towards the object to be photographed, and light entering the lens 10 is reflected by the mirror 16 on to the light-sensitive cell 17, which controls the pointer 34. When the shutter is released, the first blind moves, and lever 37 moves to allow the comb 35 to entrap the pointer. Mirror 16 is pivoted at 18 and connected by a link 89 to the comb 35 so that at the same time it is moved out of the light path by action of a spring 88. Pointer 34 acts as a stop for moving parts of the shutter which release the second blind as described in Specification 520,310.
