Abstract

520,214. Fire-extinguishing systems. FOULKES, T. E. Dec. 9, 1938, No. 35924. [Class 47 (ii)] In a storage system as in Specification 470,516, {Group XXX] comprising fixed or movable cabinets each fitted with shelves, a fire extinguishing system is provided comprising distributing pipes extending to all the compartments formed by the shelves and fitted with perforations closed by fusible elements. As shown, the pipe 15, having perforations 15a closed by wax or foil extends from a supply tank 12 at the top of the cabinet. The tank may be replaced by a hose supply from a main, the hose being long enough to permit movement of the cabinets which may be fitted with roller shutters closed automatically on the occurrence of a fire.
