Abstract
519,829. Moulding concrete pipes. WHITAKER, D. Sept. 27, 1938, No. 28100. [Class 87 (ii)] In a machine in which one or more upright cores 1 are associated with moulds, the moulded pipes being stripped from the cores by a draw beam 7 slidable on the cores, the moulds 62 are supported during the moulding operation independently of the beam, and means is provided to ensure that the beam moves parallel to the cores. The machine may be of the kind described in Specification 419,494. The cores 1 are secured to a vibrating table 2 connected by uprights carrying a top beam 13 to which the moulds, made in two parts, are secured by clips. The lower ends of the moulds rest in recesses in flanged bosses that are supported by the table 2 and pass loosely through holes in the draw-beam 7. The draw beam has a clearance space between it and the flanges and the table. The draw beam is moved upwardly to engage the flanges and to strip the pipes together with the moulds from the cores by'a cord 16 passing over pulleys, and is caused to move squarely to the cores by.racks 81 on the beam meshing with fixed pinions on a shaft 80. The ends of the pipe are shaped by a ring passed down the core and subsequently removed from the moulded pipe and by a tapered, hand-operated hammer cap having a shaped flange adapted to flt into the upper end of the wet tube.
