Abstract
519,792. Zinc. STOLBERGER ZINK AKT.-GES. FUR BERGBAU UND HUTTENBETRIEB, and METALLGES. AKT.-GES. Oct. 3, 1938, No. 28640. Convention date, May 20, 1938. [Class 82 (i)] In a process for obtaining liquid zinc from zinc dust and like zinciferous substances in a furnace wherein the material is moved during the heating, the material is introduced into the furnace in two batches, the second being introduced not later than the stage at which the charge already present is in a plastic state. In some cases, particularly when the material consists largely of fine dust with relatively thick oxide coatings, zinc in plate, scrap or other compact form may be added to the charge. When using a rotary furnace, the peripheral speed of the furnace may be so high that centrifugal forces assist in the separation of the zinc.
