Abstract

519,149. Escalators. HALL, Ltd., J. & E., and ORPIN, J. A. Oct. 6, 1938, No. 29022. [Class 78(i)] The slats of the tread surfaces of escalators nearest to the baluster casing are formed with inclined tread surfaces sloping upwards from the inner edge c' to the outer edge c<2>. Persons inadvertently placing their feet on this surface experience a feeling of discomfort and withdraw them to the level 'inner slats. Various other methods of forming these outer slats with the outer edge higher than the inner are described and illustrated.
