Abstract
517,835. Moulding pulp articles. BARTON, C. N. Aug. 8, 1938, No. 23381. [Class 87 (ii)] Articles of deep cross-section such as egg cartons are moulded by counterbalanced primary mould boxes 2, 3 adapted to be oscillated . from the full-line position shown, in which the box 2 cooperates with a complementary mould box 9 while the box 3 is dipped into a tank 88 for pulp, into the position shown in dotted lines wherein the boxes 2, 3 occupy the positions 2<1>, 3<1> in the tank 88 and in co-operation with the complementary mould box 10<1>. The boxes 2, 3 are oscillated about their points of pivotal attachment to bell-crank levers by sliding links, and are subjected to suction while in the tank and to pressure when in engagement with the boxes 9, 10. Suction is applied to the boxes 9, 10 to cause transference of the articles. The boxes 9, 10 are reciprocated together by flexible connections and cam mechanism into and out of engagement with the boxes 2, 3 and are turned into an inverted horizontal position, as shown at 10, for discharge of the moulded articles on to conveyor belts 84, 85.
