Abstract

517,126. Veneer-glueing machines. FRIZ, A. July 19, 1938, No. 21339. [Class 145 (ii)] In a machine for glueing veneers edge to edge, glueing discs or rollers are arranged so that their axes are not parallel to the marginal faces of the veneers whereas the bevelled glueing surface of each disc or roller is parallel to and rolls on the veneer edge. A further roller may have its axis perpendicular to the plane of the veneer and be supplied with glue from a receptacle by means of internal ducts and a layer of. felt. The edges of veneers a, a, Fig. 1, are bent by guide rollers b against the tables c to engage the bevelled periphery of a roller e which dips into the glue receptacle f. The roller e may be driven at a speed corresponding to that at which the veneers are fed forward. The veneers when glued are straightened and their edges pressed together. In a modification the veneers are not bent and the glueing roller engages one edge only. In a further modification, the two veneers lie in different planes and cylindrical rollers are disposed between the edge of the veneer and the glueing roller.
