[Class 29] [Also in Group XVII] A receptacle for meat, vegetables, &c., to be placed just below the evaporator of a refrigerator has its external wall surfaces 22, 23 brightly polished to lessen absorption of heat from the refrigerator walls, while the upper face of the lid 26 is treated to improve transfer of heat to the evaporator. The lid may be of sheet iron enamelled on the upper side, or of aluminium having an anodized outer surface containing a black aniline dye. The rim of the receptacle is flanged at 25 to receive the lid, which may have handles 29 and when removed and inverted may form a serving tray. Another form of lid shown in Fig. 6 has a beaded edge 41 and a double knob 42. One face is polished and the other enamelled, and by reversing the lid the temperature inside the receptacle may be changed. A corrugated lid, 51, Fig, 8, with drain holes 57 in a rim groove 55 may be employed, and may be provided with upright fins to promote heat exchange. The receptacle may be provided with a wire rack 30 to support goods out of contact with the walls and above drip water collected in the bottom of the receptacle when the evaporator is defrosted. such water being directed from the lid into the flange 25, Fig. 3. or through the holes 57, Fig. 8.
