Abstract
515,649. Cutting, embossing and moulding dough for' biscuits. CASARETTO. W., and CASARETTO, B., [trading as HENGLER & CRONEMEYER]. June 23, 1938, No. 18658. [Class 37 (ii)] A machine for embossing and cutting-cut dough for biscuits comprises a cutter 33 and embosser 36 mounted in a wheeled carriage 7 movable on an arcuate track 10 in a verticallyreciprocable carrier 9. The embossing and ejecting plate 36 is carried by a slide 39 movable in the carriage 7 and operated by a shaft 42 and eccentric 41. The shaft 42 is fixed to a lever bearing in a stationary track such that on raising the carrier 9 and carriage 7 the shaft 42 is rotated to move 'the ejector. Dough is sheeted by rolls 1 and conveyed by driven rollers 2 to an endless band 3 and thence to the cutter assembly 4 and a delivery band 5. Cutting and embossing are effected. by a rocking movement of the carriage 7 in the track 10 against a counter-pressure support 8. The carriage 7 and support 8 are moved, during cutting, at the same speed and in the same direction as the dough. After cutting, the carrier 9 is raised and causes the embosser 36 to eject the cut dough. The carriage is returned on the track at an accelerated speed. The cutter 33 is fixed to a beam 29 and clamps to it a plate 34 carrying pins 35. A hollow member 30 having a curved roller surface embraces the cutter 33 and is mounted on springs 32 so as to be slidable on the beam 29. The support 8, carriage 7 and carrier 9 are driven from cam discs on a drive shaft such that the support and carriage are moved first and the carrier is - vertically reciprocated after the cutting operation. The support 8 slides on a verticallyadjustable table. A rubber roller 46 may be substituted for the support 8. The driving mechanism is adjustably controlled from the speed of the oven band to which the dough is delivered. The machine can be converted into a rotary dough moulder by removing the carriage and cutter assembly from the track 10 and providing a .shaping roller 50, hopper 52 and fluted pressure roll 51, the dough shapes being transferred by the rubber roller 46 to the band 3. The waste dough strip is fed upwards by a lever 54, the dough shapes being delivered by the conveyer 5.
