Abstract
515,312. Gas cooking-stoves; hot-plates; gas supply to burners. MAIN Ltd., R. & A., and WORTLEY, G. W. May 28, 1938, No. 15994. [Classes 75 (i) and 126] A hot-plate 27 for a gas-cooker is cast as a unit with apertures 28 above the hot - plate burners, and a number of upstanding ribs 31 around the apertures to support cooking utensils. These ribs may extend partly over the apertures 28. An aperture 29, with a removable cover-plate 9, may be provided above the grilling device. The top of the hot-plate is concave between the ribs. The hot-plate rests, near its rear and side edges, on the top edge 21 of a rectangular frame attached to the top of the cooker, and is prevented from making lateral movement by interengaging parts. The rectangular frame comprises upright side pieces 11 formed at the bottom with an inwardly directed flange 12. A gas pipe 15 is covered by a cornice plate 14, lugs 16, 17 on the pipe 15 and plate 14 being connected by screws 18 and lugs 24 on the pipe abutting against lugs 23 on the rectangular frame. The handles of gas cocks extend through openings in the frame. The burners each rest at one end on an injector nozzle projecting from the pipe 15 and at 'the other end an a cross-bar integral with or attached to the frame 11. Gas is supplied from the pipe 15 through a gas cock 43, Fig. 7, a filter-chamber 44, and a thermostatically controlled valve 46, to the oven burner 54. The filter chamber is composed of two rotatable parts, one carrying the inlet 47 and the other the outlet 48, which are eccentrically arranged. By rotating the two parts, the relative eccentricity of the inlet 47 and outlet 48 can be varied According to the Provisional Specification, the filter chamber comprises a cylindrical box open and screw-threaded internally at one end to receive a correspondingly threaded plug, the box at its closed end and the plug having eccentrically arranged bosses for connection with the gas pipes. The Provisional Specification also states the taps may be provided with removable thumb pieces which may be of relatively brittle heat-insulating material such as synthetic resin and are provided with niting washers engaging a niting slot in the injector bodies. A hinged lid for the top of the gas cooker and uprights for a plate rack may be provided.
