[Class 82 (i)] [Also in Groups III and XIII] A vessel for melting metals having melting points not higher than 500-600‹ C. such as lead or zinc, or for evaporating liquids, has its undersurface of convex form and covered with outstanding projections or peaks exposed directly to the beating-medium; the peaks &c. are disposed in rows so as to present to the heating- medium channels whereby it is distributed over the underside of the vessel. The projections &c. are preferably each in the form of a truncated member having an elliptical cross-section or of a prism with rounded outer edge, and are separated by distances of approximately the same size as their maximum cross-section.
