Abstract
513,092. Ice-making. SCHMELZER, A. C. March 31, 1938, No. 9910. Convention date, April 1, 1937. [Class 29] Small separate blocks of ice are formed in cupshaped moulds 15, Figs. 2 and 7, supported in recesses '6 in the cover member of a brine pan 3 adapted to be inserted in the freezing compartment of a domestic refrigerator, the cover 17 of the mould'having a flat tongue 23 depending into the water so that by rotating the cover the ice block may be turned by the action of the frozen in tongue to release it from the mould. The rim of the cover may have an inwardly projecting portion to enter a notch in the beaded rim of the mould. The bottom of the mould may have a cam portion 54, Fig. 14, to lilt the ice block when it is rotated. A square-sectioned mould, Fig. 9, has a loose member 45 with a squared upper end fitting a hole in the cover and a base portion 43 formed with cams 44 so that when the cover is turned the ice block is turned and raised from the mould. The- Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also the following: A mould 60, Fig. 24 (Cancelled), has a rotatable upright member 64 attached to a false bottom member 61 on which a design may be embossed, and below the false bottom a finger grip 65 for use in releasing, the rod and member 61 from the ice-block after the block has been removed from the mould. A mould may have a fluted split liner 69, Figs. 25, 27 (Cancelled), and a loose false bottom 74, to produce fancy shapes of ice., This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
