[Class 130] A cleaning roll of a tobacco-stemming machine comprises a series of double-ended blades 11 of substantially diamond shape mounted upon a shaft 6 and separated from one another by spacing members 12, which present an exterior cylindrical surface and cover the major portion of the blades. The blades are preferably of flexible metal and the spacing members of cushioning material such as rubber. The shaft 6 is rotated and the blades enter between stripping brushes 3 on travelling chains. Specification 383,021 is referred to.
