[Class 108 (i)] [Also in Groups XXV, X and XVII] In a wall structure built up from a plurality of synthetic resinous sheet-like pressings disposed in substantially the same plane, particularly for vehicle body-work, adjacent pressings are connected together by a deformable metal strip in one or more lengths co-extensive with the edges of the pressings, the metal strip comprising a head portion and a base portion, the head portion being deformed to press the edges of the pressings against a preformed abutment on the base portion. The metal strip may be of aluminium or of soft iron, and any gaps or grooves left on the outer face of the joint may be filled up or closed by a plastic synthetic resinous adhesive or the like. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the pressings 1, 2 are formed with flanges 3, and the metal strip is of split-pin section with a bulbous head 10 and legs 6, 7 to which a moulded rib 8 forming an abutment also of synthetic resinous material, is keyed by means of apertures 9. The lower ends of the legs 6, 7 may have flanged extensions of dove-tail shape which are bent over in opposite directions to engage correspondingly shaped depressions in additional pressings parallel to the pressings 1, 2 so as to press such additional pressings against the abutment rib to form a double-walled structure. Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) illustrate four pressings connected together by a slidably engaging interlocking connection between the metal strips. Fig. 8 shows a modified metal strip formed from a flat band by slitting and bending to form oppositely directed lugs 17 with flanges 18 to form the abutment, and oppositely directed lugs 20 to form the head, the edges of the pressings being moulded with depressions to receive such lugs. Some of the lugs 20 may be left standing upright so as to secure in position a third pressing at right-angles to the other two pressings and carrying a metal plate which may be welded to such upstanding lugs. Fig. 12 shows a further form of metal strip formed from a flat band which is split and bent to form a deformable bulbous head and oppositely directed intersecting lugs 28 forming the abutment.
