Abstract
509,784. Cellulose ether compositions. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 20, 1938, No. 1974. Convention date, Jan. 21, 1937. [Class 2 (ii)] Printing inks are made by milling a pigment insoluble in alcohol with an alkyl cellulose, appreciably soluble in alcohol and softened to a doughy state thereby, and dispersing the product, preferably after drying and grinding, in alcohol. Alkyl celluloses specified are methyl, ethyl, and benzyl cellulose. Pigments specified are the colouring matter obtained by coupling diazotised m-nitro-p-toluidine with acetoacetanilide, chrome yellow, copper phthalocyanine, Prussian Blue, the phosphotungstates corresponding with Victoria Blue R, the vat dyestuff Caledon Jade Green, the calcium salt of the azo compound from Tobias acid diazotised and coupled with 2: 3 hydroxynaphthoic acid, and titanium dioxide. Specifications 426,912 and 450,285 are referred tb. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 the alcohol may be replaced wholly or in part by other lower aliphatic alcohols or by aromatic solvents such as benzene, toluene, or xylene. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
