Abstract

509,029. Galvanizing. DEMAG AKT.- GES. Oct. 1, 1937, No. 26643. Void. Convention date, Oct. 1, 1936. [Class 82 (ii)] Tubes, bars, metal sheets and the like are galvanized by suspending them vertically, singly or in groups, and introducing them by a series of lowering, raising and horizontal movements successively into a water bath, a lye bath, a drying oven and a galvanizing tank. In the apparatus shown, tubes to be galvanized are suspended from grippers 8 arranged in groups at the periphery of a platform 7 mounted on a shaft 5 above a water bath 1, lye bath 2, drying oven 3 and galvanizing tank 4. The shaft is rotated by a motor-driven gear 9 to carry the groups of tubes from one station to the next, and is lowered and raised at each station to immerse and withdraw the tubes by means of a rack and pinion gear 11, 12 driven by a motor and gearing carried by the gear 9. Tubes to be treated are placed on to a trough 13 which is then tipped to deliver them to a pit 161 in which they take an upright position, and from which they are inserted by hand in the self-gripping holders 8. After the treatment, the tubes reach an unloading station where electro-magnetically operated pushers engage releasing-levers on the grippers 8 and allow the tubes to drop from them into a pocket on a member which is then turned about a horizontal axis to lower the tubes on to discharge rolls 26.
