[Class 130] The stem 7 of a pipe has an enlarged bore 11 and slots or perforations 12 in its wall for the circulation of air about an absorbent sleeve 19 of fibrous material such as paper, supported by annular enlargements 20 on a non-absorbent tube 16 forming a smoke passage between the bowl and mouthpiece. The tube 16 is provided with perforations 17 to allow liquid to drain on to the sleeve 19, and its bore may be reduced at intervals, with shoulders 18 facing the path of the smoke to assist in the separation of liquid from the smoke.
