Abstract
508,004. Dynamo - electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 22, 1937, No. 32147. Convention date, Nov. 21, 1936. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXXVII] A protective relay or like device for polyphase systems, which operates, for example, when there is an interphase or earth fault, or responds to polyphase power against predetermined voltage restraint or to zero phase sequence flow, comprises a magnetic stator 15 with a plurality of radially-projecting salients or poles 161, 162 ... 166 carrying energizing windings 17, a rotary current-conducting member 19 which operates the relay contacts, an inner fixed member 18 of magnetic material and a frame member 21 of magnetic material to provide a shunt flux path for the residual flux from the salients. Fig. 3 shows a device with six salients energized by three-phase quantities 1, 2, 3, arranged so that normally the rotating field produced by the windings on the salients 161, 163, 165 is equal and opposite to the rotating field produced by the windings on the salients 162, 164, 166.
