Abstract
506,849. Cracking and reforming oils. UNIVERSAL OIL-PRODUCTS CO. Feb. 1, 1938, No. 3146. Convention date, June 30, 1937. [Class 32] In a process.for cracking and reforming oils comprising a distillate stock consisting substantially of gasoline of low anti-knock value, the oils are cracked and reformed in presence of gaseous hydrocarbons and after immediate cooling to arrest further conversion the products formed are fractionated to, separate gasoline of required anti-knock value, which is stabilized, the rich gases thus released being absorbed in an oil which is then subjected, together with the absorbed gases, to the cracking step. Charging stock is fed by a pump to an absorption tower 10 and together with the gases thus absorbed is reformed in a coil 7. The products are cooled to arrest further reaction by introducing cooling oils through line 20, 22, and are then separated into vapours and liquid fractions in a separator 19, to which also cooling oil may be admitted' through line 24. The vapours are fractionated in a tower 30 into (a) products of desired endpoint which are recovered through line 63 and condenser 65 and collected in a receiver 68, where they are separated from gases which aro passed through line 83 into absorption tower 10 ; (b) an intermediate light fraction which is withdrawn through line 45, reboiled in tower 47 to remove absorbed gases which are returned through line 49, and fed through cooler 58 as absorption'oil to tower 10 ; alternatively this fraction may be fed through lines 55, 42 to mix with the recycle stock from tower 30 ; and (c) heavy recycle stock which is removed from the bottom of tower 30 and fed through lines 31, 34, 36, 14 to the coil 7. Part of this stock may be withdrawn through line 35 or fed through cooler 42 as absorber oil to tower 10. The gasoline from separator 68 is cooled in heatexchanger 77 and stabilized in tower 80, the stabilized product being withdrawn through line 99 while the gases.evolved are led off through line 81 and mixed with the gases passing through line 83 to the tower 10. A part of the; light gasoline fraction may be removed from tower 30 through line 69, 61 and mixed with the stabilized final product. The coil 7 is heated to 500-585‹C. under a pressure of 13 to 68 atmos. and the products are cooled to about 400‹ C. under a pressure of 2-20 atmos. before introduction into the chamber 19. Specification 472,304 is referred to.
