Abstract
506,824. Thermionic electrodes. VEREINIGTE GLUHLAMPEN UND ELEKTRIZITATS AKT.-GES. Aug. 31, 1937, No. 23789. Void. Convention date, Aug. 31, 1936. [Class 39 (i)] An electrode for a discharge lamp comprises a part 1 carrying electron emissive material and a second part 2 which is uncoated in use and attains a higher temperature-say 2000‹ G.- so that it emits red light. The two parts may be coaxial rods or a rod 1 may be surrounded by a coil 2. In manufacture both may be coated with barium carbonate but in use this coating vaporizes off the coil 2. The part 1 may be nickel tungsten or molybdenum and the part 2 tungsten. Wire dimensions are given. The filling consists of mercury and argon at a pressure of 25 mm.
