[Class 97 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVII] A horizontal supporting plate 6 carries transparencies to be projected by a microscopic projection apparatus, the transparencies 11 being carried on discs 10 rotatable in and removable from the plate 6 which is rotatable about a pivot 8 to position the transparencies successively on the axis of the projection apparatus. The plate 6 rests on a lower coaxial plate relatively to which it can rotate, and the pivot pin 8 is carried on a slide 29 movable by a rod 43 to position each transparency accurately. The position of the plates are determined by spring-pressed pins on the lower plate engaging notches in the upper plate, small rotations of the plate being effected by a pin movable in an inclined slot 53 in the lower plate by a screw 50. To facilitate location of the preparations 11 they carry lines 16 registering with corresponding lines on the discs 10. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also the subject-matter of Specification 499,291, and also focusing-mechanism for the projector which may be fitted with an eyepiece to permit direct observation with or without simultaneous projection. As shown in Fig. I (Cancelled), the objective is carried on a piston 36 sliding in a cylinder 37 under the action of a spring 38, the cylinder being filled with liquid and connected by a pipe 40 to one or more screw pistons 42 which effect the focusing. Interchangeable objectives 47 and 48 are provided. Alternatively, as shown in Fig. 4 (Cancelled), the objective is carried in a tube 100 dovetailed in a slide 101 movable in a vertical quide and carrying a pinion 104 engaging a rack 103 on the tube 100 to permit rapid focusing. The slide 101 is pressed by a spring 106 so that a roller 107 thereon engages a cam 108 rotated through suitable gearing by an electric motor 116 to permit remote control of the focusing. A reversing switch, Fig. 10 (Cancelled), for operating the motor comprises a sliding plate 130 having projections 133, 134 so that in one extreme position two pairs of contacts 123, 125 are closed to. rotate the motor in one direction, and in the other position the other pairs of contacts are closed to reverse the motor. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
