Abstract
505,308. Illuminated kerbs. ROBINSON, G. C., and STANTON, S. G. April 23, 1938, No. 12221. [Class 107] [Also in Groups XI and XVIII] A kerb block 1 has a cavity 2 containing a light source 4, one or more passages 6 leading from the cavity to an aperture or apertures 7 formed in the front sloping face 13 of the kerb, and a detachable coverplate 12 for enabling the interior of the cavity to be inspected. The front to rear width of the passage is such as to minimize the danger of the light source being damaged by any external source and, as shown, the rear end of the cavity may be closed by a sheet 10 of glass. The face 13 extends from the upper surface of the kerb to adjacent the lower edge of the aperture and the latter may be bounded by inclined surfaces 71, 7<11>. The base of the cavity may be inclined so that any water tending to collect therein gravitates to a drainage aperture 16.
