Abstract

505,295. Settings for gems. COLLINS & CO., Ltd., W. H., and COLLINS, W. H. Feb. 10, 1938, No. 4136. [Class 43] In a setting for gems and the like of the kind which include a gallery mount and a setting member having a plurality of sockets to hold the stones, such as is described in Specification 483,401, some of the gems are held in place by claws provided on the setting member, while the remaining stones, and the setting member are held in place by claws integral with the sides of the mount. In the form shown, the gallery mount 5 is of cruciform shape with integral claws 11, 12 to hold two setting members 15, 16 and some of the gems 6 in place, the setting members being provided with claws 21, 22 for holding other stones in place. One of the setting members 16 has its central'socket 18 depressed relatively to the corresponding socket on the other setting member so that both will seat evenly on the mount. This construction is also applicable to mounts of figure-of-eight or other shape providing two intersecting channels or where the mount is so shaped that two channels or two parts of the same channel lie side by side in a closely spaced relationship.
