Abstract

500,926. Moulding pipes &c. DEUTSCHE EISENWERKE AKT.-GES. May 20, 1938, No. 15057. Convention date, May 20, 1937. [Class 87 (ii)] In moulding pipes or like hollow articles, cement, concrete or like material is continuously introduced into a mould 2 in a dry or slightly moist condition and simultaneously the setting liquid is continuously and independently introduced into the mould and the materials are continuously compressed by a core and pressure screw 3 correspondingly to their supply. The liquid may be fed through channels 6, 8 in the screw 3 to points below screw segments 4, 5 or through holes in the segments themselves. A reinforcing wire or band may be fed into the material through a hole in the segment 4 and along a groove 11, being finally guided by a knurled or toothed roller 13. The segment 5 may also be provided with a roller. The screw segments may be offset vertically so that the higher one compresses material on to the reinforcement. The mould may alternatively be lined with a tubular wirenetting reinforcement of diameter greater than that of the screw 3. The screw 3 may he extended to form a smoothing core 15 which may be provided with a perforated tube 16 whereby excess liquid can escape and heat can be introduced to accelerate setting. The mould may be lined with a longitudinallyslotted tube 1 of lead or other metal and having overlapping edges. The tube 1 is removed with the pipe and serves to support it during hardening, being secured by clamps or by ropes wound round it.
