499,435. Metallic springs ; spring upholstery. BURGESS, A. F. (Burton- Dixie Corporation). Jan. 12, 1938, No. 1036. [Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Group XIV] A covered coiled-wire spring assembly comprises a plurality of tapered or hour glass springs 11, each provided with end rings 12 in contact with the cover of the assembly, the end rings being distorted inwardly at 15 so as to contact with the adjacent convolution of lesser diameter and prevent it from contacting with the cover when the assembly is loaded. The end rings are connected by helical springs 14 and the length of the springs 11 increases from the ends of the assembly to the centre.
