[Class 83 (iii)] In a triple locking device for drilling-machines &c., particularly for locking the carriage on the arm, the arm on the sleeve and the sleeve on the pillar in a radial arm drilling-machine, the three locks are effected through eccentrics which are simultaneously actuated by a single control member. The drill head 5 is looked to the radial arm 3 by means of a hook 28, Fig. 4, movable against the V -slide 29 of the arm through an eccentric 25 on a horizontal shaft 1 rotatable by a handle 21. The clamping pressure of the hook is adjusted by means of a wedge 31 and nuts 32. A vertical shaft 1a, Fig. 12, is connected to the shaft 1 by cranks on the shafts and a link 41, and carries an eccentric 64 engaging a ring 65 which is prevented from rotating with the shaft 1a by projecting through a slot 66 in the annular portion of the arm 3. An adjustable screw 63 on the ring 65 engages a flexibly mounted key 60a to force it into a keyway 61 on the sleeve 7 to lock the arm vertically when the shaft 1a is rotated. Two further opposed eccentrics 42, 43, Fig. 7, on the shaft la carry rings 44, 45 attached to plungers 46, 47 which engage the split portion 56, 57 of the base of the sleeve 7 to clamp it to the pillar 9 on rotation of the shaft 1a. The rings engage the eccentrics through needle bearings 45a, and the shaft 1 may be rotated by electric, hydraulic or mechanical means instead of by hand.
