Abstract
Creams, salves, emulsions, and the like, particularly for cosmetic and therapeutic purposes, are made by emulsifying Ti-Tree oil, extracted from the bush Melaleuca Alternifolia, mixed with other vegetable oils with the aid of a neutral emulsifying agent, such as fatty alcohols or derivatives of cetyl alcohol, and then irradiating the product with ultra-violet rays for five to fifteen minutes. Ti-Tree oil is stated to inhibit the formation of mould and prevent rancidity, to be non-toxic and to act as a solvent for substances such as caffeine or cholesterol which may be added to the products. The irradiation is stated to increase the vitamin content of the product and its therapeutic value.ALSO:Cream, salves, emulsions, and the like, particularly for cosmetic and therapeutic purposes, are made by emulsifying Ti-Tree oil, extracted from the bush Melaleuca Alternifolia, mixed with other vegetable oils with the aid of a neutral emulsifying agent, such as fatty alcohols or derivatives of cetyl alcohol, and then irradiating the product with ultra-violet rays for five to fifteen minutes.
