Abstract

492,874. Photographic cameras. KODAK, Ltd. (Kodak Akt.-Ges.) April 1, 1938, No. 10073. [Class 98 (i)] Measurement or indication of the movement of a strip coated with light-sensitive emulsion is effected by passing the strip over a measuring roller having teeth so shaped and arranged as partly or wholly to penetrate the emulsion but not the base, rotation of the wheel being effected thereby. As shown in Fig. 1, the film F in a photographic camera passes to the takeup spool 5 over the wheel 9, the teeth 10 of which point away from the direction of travel of the film and the shaft 11 of which carries an indicating device. A pressure plate may be provided to press the film on to the roller. To prevent overwinding, the shaft 11 may carry a gear 19, Fig. 4, meshing with a gear 20 having a cam 22 engaging a pivoted lever 23 having an end 25 meshing with a ratchet 26 on the film-forwarding mechanism. After feeding the film forward, the cam 22 causes the lever 23 to lock the feed until released by means described in Specification 491,001.
