[Class 75 (iv)] In a vehicle or like lamp, the electric bulb 22 is adjustable both vertically and horizontally in relation to a fixed reflector 3, the adjustment being effected from a remote control through the medium of one or more Bowden cables. In the form shown, the lamp socket 4 is adjustably secured by a screw 5 within a tube 6, which is pivoted on trunnions 8 in a sleeve 7, the latter being mounted to pivot about vertical pins 13, 13a. The vertical and horizontal movements of the tube 6 about the trunnions 8 and the vertical axis 13, 13a, are effected by Bowden cables 10, 10a, the central wires 9, 9a of which are connected respectively to the tube 6 by a sliding sleeve 12 and a spring 15, and to the pin 13a by a spring 40, Fig. 3, pivoted arms 34, 35, 36, and a bifurcated member 32. The opposite ends of the wires 9, 9a extend to a remote control point, e.g. the dash-board of a vehicle, where they are connected to members 25, 41, Fig. 4, slidable on a base 24. The sliding movements of these members are effected by a single spindle 26 having an operating knob 29, this spindle being directly secured to the member 25 and having splined thereon a worm 43 which engages a screw thread in the member 41. Rotation of the knob 29 thus moves the member 41 to operate the wire 9a while push and pull movements of the knob operate the wire 9. Modifications are referred to in which a single Bowden cable is used to effect both vertical and horizontal adjustments and in which foot-operated means are employed to actuate either or both of the cables 10, 10a.
