Abstract

<PICT:0491774/IV/1> Spinning apparatus for spinning viscose, cuprammonium, or any other cellulosic solution, comprising a spinning cylinder and a separate spinning jet head which is adapted to close one end of the cylinder, is characterized by the provision of means whereby, during the spinning operation, the pressure of the solution being extruded is utilized to press the spinning head tightly against the cylinder. The spinning jet head 4, by means of its flange 9 and the rubber gasket 10, is adapted to seal the upper end of the cylinder 15. The jet head 4 is slidably mounted on a tubular piece 1 which is connected to the supply pipe 2 for the spinning solution by means of a ball-joint. Disposed within the jet head 4 is a plate 7 containing one or more perforations, and the resistance this offers to the flow of the spinning solution causes the jet head 4 to be forced downwards till it seals the upper end of the cylinder 15. Means for ensuring a quiet and uniform distribution of the precipitating liquid in the spinning cylinder 15 are shown, the precipitating liquid entering at 12 to the distributer ring 21 which has an annular series of distributer ports 13, above which balls 14 of a glass or the like are heaped. The precipitating liquid rises above the balls 14 and overflows into the funnel 16.
