490,027. Bomb - dropping. SHORT BROS. (ROCHESTER & BEDFORD), Ltd., and GOUGE, A. May 11, 1936, No. 13257. [Class 9 (ii)] In bomb-dropping apparatus in which the bombs are in superimposed formation, the bomb carriers of a tier are supported by a belt or chain e disposed upright and adapted to lower each bomb in turn to the dropping position and adapted to operate in the reverse direction for loading. The belt extends between pulleys f<1>, f<2> at the bottom and a pulley f at the top. The bombs a are held by carriers b of known kind, and these are attached to chocks c, c<1>, c<2>, c3 connected by pivots d to the belt e. The pivots d are guided by a race g, and further pins h on the chocks are guided in a U-shaped race h<1>. The belt may be formed in sections, and the carriers may be adapted to support the bombs at various parts thereof. The casing is provided at the bottom with hinged doors i.
