[Class 27] [Also in Group XV] An amusement device of the type in which upon insertion of a coin, articles of merchandise positioned on a platform may be selectively removed from the platform by a crane or derrick-like arrangement provided with an arm equipped with a grab, includes, as power actuated means for positively moving the boom arm of the crane through a predetermined cycle for gripping and releasing an - article of merchandise, a motor, a shaft driven thereby, levers under control of the shaft and flexible tension elements interposed between the levers and the grab and the boom arm to determine the position of the boom arm and of the grab in accordance with the movement of the shaft. A boom 25 carrying an arm 24 and rotatable by a cord 47 is secured near one side of a table 10 on which the merchandise is supported. The table is rotated by a motor 30. A grab 26, raised and lowered by cords 49, 51 is carried from the free end of the arm. The cords are actuated by a motor 40, cam shaft 42, and levers 46, 48, 50 in predetermined sequence to swing the boom arm 24 across the table, lower and raise the grab and release same over the delivery opening 14. At the end of a revolution the cam shaft opens a mercury switch in the mains and the apparatus is ready for replay. The rotary movement of the boom 25 may also be influenced either prior to, or after the insertion of a coin, by a hand wheel 60 and cord 65. When a coin slide 78 is pushed in a pin 100 thereon rocks a spring-returned arm 106 to close temporarily switch 73 in series with a relay. A switch 116 is also opened. The coin drops on to a lever 74 and tilts the mercury switch into closed position thereby setting the motor 40 and merchandise table into rotation. During the return of the coin slide the arm 106 returns under the restraint of a dashpot 110, the switches 73 and 116 are closed, and the relay is energized to stop the table-driving motor 30 and start the grab-actuating motor 30. A control switch may be manipulated by the operator to energize the grab-actuating motor 40, independently of the condition of the switch 73 and at the same time stop the rotation of the table in a favourable position. In a modification, the merchandise table is stationary and the boom projects through the central opening 14, the arm 24 being replaced by a gib pivoted to the boom. The rotation of the boom to set the grab over the desired article is effected by manual adjustment of a hand wheel, the swinging movements of the gib and the actuation of the grab being effected by cords and a cam shaft driven by the motor 40. Additional manual adjustment for swing- ing the gib towards and away from the table is also provided.
