Abstract

A stable suspension of the gonadotropic hormone of the anterior lobe of the hypophysis is prepared by suspending a preparation of the hormone in a physiologically innocuous oil (e.g. peanut, sesame, or olive) with an admixture of anhydrous wool fat. The hormone preparation, which may be obtained from urine, is preferably purified, e.g. by removing salts by dialysis or by adsorption or precipitation. According to an example, a crude product obtained by precipitation with alcohol from the urine of pregnant individuals is dialyzed after extraction with 50 per cent alcohol and subsequent precipitation. The preparation is triturated with a mixture of one part of wool fat to ten of olive oil.
