Abstract
487,441. Telegraph exchange systems. TOWLER, E. E. (Siemens & Halske Akt.-Ges.) March 6, 1937, No. 6661. [Class 40 (iii)] A subscriber's line is provided with means in the line or preselector circuit for forcing release on the receipt of a release signal from a called line, even if the calling loop remains closed. In the system shown, relay R(i) operates over the loop on a call being made and closes an interrupter circuit for the preselector magnet D. On the operation of test relay T, relay U operates and locks dependent on relay R, and battery sent back over the b-wire energizes relay L which connects repeating relay B across the loop. Relay R remains operated over winding (i) and if the calling party sends the release signal, winding (ii) of R is operated by the release of B so that R releases releasing T and restoring the preselector to normal. If the called party sends a release signal, relay L releases closing a short-circuit for winding (i) of R and disconnecting winding (ii) so that R releases irrespective of the condition of the calling loop and releases relay T and the connection. In a modification, for a four-wire toll-subscriber's line, the release of relay L with U energized when the called party releases reverses the battery connection to one winding of relay R to effect its release.
