Abstract

487,389. R÷ntgen ray apparatus. DES PLANTES, B. G. Z. Aug. 26, 1936, Nos. 23457 and 23458. Void. Convention dates, Aug. 27, 1935 and July 11, 1936. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (i)] Two or more R÷ntgen images of an object obtained from different directions of projection are simultaneously viewed in such a position that the images on the retina are made to cover one another in such a manner that the images of one plane of the object coincide, so that the image of that plane becomes prominent. The images may be superimposed mechanically or optically. Fig. 3 shows means by which four or a smaller number of films may be displaced relatively to a stationary film. Shafts 8 connected by bevel gears are provided with opposite screw threads engaging film holders 4. Means are described by which two or three images are optically superimposed. Fig. 5 shows an arrangement in which the film III is viewed directly and film I and II are viewed in mirrors S<1>, S<2>. Fig. 7 shows arrangement on which images produced on a fluorescent screen PQ by tubes F<1>, F<2> are viewed by mirrors S1, S<1>, S<3>, S<4>. To determine the position of the plane being viewed, a block of material, Fig. 8, transparent to X-rays and containing a series of opaque figures is photographed together with the object under examination This distance may also be determined by apparatus, Fig. 9, in which the rotatable mirror S<3> by which displacement of one of the images is effected is secured to an index W. Fig. 10 shows an arrangement by which the images can either be superimposed or viewed stereoscopically. The images are reflected by mirrors S<2> .... S<6> and the semitransparent mirror S<1>, Fig. 9, replaced by a mirror S<1> consisting of four parts, a semitransparent part a, Fig. 10a, a transparent part b, a mirror c, and a transparent part d. The images may either be viewed through the part a when they will be superimposed or through a transparent part with one eye and a mirror with the other by which stereoscopic effect is obtained.
