[Class 38 (v)] [Also in Group XXXV] A.C. electromagnets for switches or for lifting or tractive purposes, have shading rings 1, 2 provided in co-operating faces of the magnet F and armature A, the area enclosed by one ring lying wholly within the contour of the area enclosed by the other. The arrangement is to prevent chattering and to give a more constant pull. Specification 392,449 is referred to.
