Abstract
487,010. Indicating devices for aircraft. LINK, jun., E. A. Aug. 26, 1937, No. 23399. [Class 4] [Also in Groups XX and XIX] Images of the visual indicating portions of aircraft instruments are projected on to a screen to provide a single group of images by light reflected from the instruments. As shown in Fig. 6 the instruments 16 carried on a panel 2 have dials surrounded by apertured reflectors 17 each containing two lamps, the light reflected from the dials being projected by optical units 15 to the screen 13. Each unit 15 carried on a panel 14, comprises three reflecting prisms for orientating the image and a projection lens. Side screens 27 may be provided, and the system comprising screen 27, 13 and panel 14 may be hinged about the panel 2 to permit direct observation of the instruments. Light tubes may be provided between each reflector 17 and its corresponding unit 15. Images of instruments having similar directions of movement may be located on the screen in substantially the same plane of vision so that the group may be read almost as one instrument. Fig. 4 shows such an arrangement comprising a clock 3, artificial horizon 4, radio marker beacon 5, turn indicator 6, bank indicator 7, directional gyro 8, rate of climb indicator 9, air speed indicator 10, radio compass 11 and altimeter 12. If desired part only of each dial may be projected the remainder being blacked out.
