Abstract
486,268. Refrigerating. ELECTROLUX, Ltd. Aug. 9, 1937, No. 21884. Convention date, Sept. 3, 1936. [Classes 29 and 64 (iii)] Absorption machines. -Baffle members inserted in absorbers and evaporators are shaped or fitted so that liquid when baffled at its upper surface is forced to flow between the baffle members and the wall of the tube or vessel, whereby films on the liquid surface are positively destroyed and absorption or evaporation is improved. The baffle mombers consist of a helical strip 15 having notches 16 on its edge, and the tube wall is indented at intervals 12 in known manner, preferably intermediate the contact points of the strip. A plain wire may be used, the unevenness of contact being sufficient to provide liquid flow paths ; or a stranded wire may be employed. The helical baffle may be screwed into the tube before or after formation of the indentations. Specification 264,170, [Class 29], is referred to.
