[Class 124] [Also in Groups XL and XXIV] Slabs 13 of Rochelle salt or another piezoelectric crystal are held on a turntable 8 by means of a viscous composition described in the Specification, or with cup grease or cylinder oil, or by air suction through slots in the turntable. A cutting tool 12 is advanced towards (or alternatively away from) the periphery of the turntable, where the slabs 13 are held by an adjustable rim 10 which can be moved to enable the slabs to be slid off the turntable after the cutting. The cutting speed may be 2,000 feet per second.
