Abstract

483,319. Printing lenticular films for colour photography. KODAK, Ltd. Oct. 16, 1936, No. 28143. Convention date, Oct. 31, 1935. [Class 98 (ii)] In printing transversely lenticulated film, the original and copy films are advanced at the same speed, but there is caused continuous relative movement between the image and the copy film in order to eliminate moire pattern. A source of light with a single filament extending parallel to the film embossing, is imaged by a condenser lens 2 on to the image layer 3 of a film 4 having transverse lenticulations 5. An objective lens 6 preferably of the same aperture as the lens 2 images the original film 4 onto a copy film 7 having a sensitive layer 8 and lenticulations 13. The illumination of the layers 3, 8 is limited to the width of a single lenticulation by slits 10, 12 respectively. The films are preferably arranged in the same plane and are moved by sprockets on a common shaft, the light being refracted from one film to the other by prisms. In the method applied to contact printing, the two films are moved with their lenticulated surfaces substantially in contact. An objective produces an image of a large slit for illuminating the film, the width of the imaged slit being equal to that of a single lenticulation. In another modification, the two films are moved in opposite directions, and the magnification of the picture is made such that the movement of the projected image is greater or less than that of the copy film by the width of one embossed element, during the time required for one element to pass the slit 21. Reference has been, directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 288,290, 329,899, [both in Class 98 (ii)], and 377,177.
