Abstract

To avoid excessive radial orientation of the crystals in a centrifugally cast pipe the heat of the molten material is removed mainly in an axial direction. The hot pipe is then fed through the various temperature zones of an annealing furnace intermittently so as to cool it, through one or more crystal conversion points, mainly by removing the heat axially.
