481,222. Making sheet glass. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP HOLLANDSCHE MAATSCHAPPIJ VOOR DE VERVAARDIGING VAN GLAS. Dec. 24, 1936, No. 35359. Convention date, Dec. 24, 1935. [Class 56] Relates to apparatus for drawing sheet glass in which the sheet 7, Fig. 3, is drawn from a pot 12 immersed in a mass 4 of molten glass with its edges above the level of the glass, a central slot 14 or a rib being provided to define the line of draw and inlet openings 39 to permit glass to flow into the pot. According to the invention, the walls 15 of the pot are situated a substantial distance inwards from the sides of the forehearth J7 containing the glass 4, so that the pot is entirely surrounded by the glass and greater uniformity of temperature across the width of the sheet is obtained. The sheet 7 is drawn vertically upwards into a leer 5 of the Fonrcanit type, and edge-holding rollers 26 mounted. on adjustable supports, and arms 20 for holding the pot down in the glass, are provided. The pot, instead of being formed in one piece, may be divided into three sections 43, 44, 45, Fig. 6, and spacers 46, 47 may be inserted between the pieces to adjust the width of the inlet slots 48, 49. A central ridge 50 may be used instead of the slot 14, and the distances A, B between the rib and the inlet slots may be unequal. The level of the floor of the pot may be higher on one side of the rib than on the other.
