[Class 28 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A food griller and toaster comprises a turnably mounted food holder or grid arranged between concentric semicircular, inclined, heated walls 2, 3, provided with refractory jackets 5, 6. The walls may be heated by gas or electricity and a thermostatic control may be provided. The grid 8 is inclined to correspond with the inclination of the walls, the food thus reclining against the grid. The grid is carried between rings 9, 7 secured to a spindle 11 journalled in upper and lower bearings 12, 13, the ring 7 being provided with a handle 15 whereby the grid may be swung from a position in which the food is placed against the grid, to a position where the food is between the heated walls. A removable tray 16 which may have a tap, collects the falling fat. One half of the grid may be dispensed with, the grid then being of semi-conical formation. The walls and grid may slope outwardly, in which case the food is laid on the inner side of the grid from above. Or the walls and grid may be cylindrical or semi-cylindrical, the grid being formed as a cage into which the food is placed from above, or hooks, clips, spring-fingers, grid-like spring flaps or baskets may be provided to hold the food on the cylindrical or semi-cylindrical food support. A plurality of grids or food holders may be superposed, so that a battery of grilling or toasting means, separately or jointly controllable, is provided. According to the Provisional Specification, one of the walls may be provided with a spent gas flue.
