Abstract

478,189. Making electrical connectors. CARR FASTENER CO., Ltd., and KOHLER, J. H. May 13, 1936, No. 13539. [Class 83 (ii)] Electrical connectors of the kind which comprise a metal strip having la terally project. ing prongs on opposite sides of the strip which are adapted to engage a former or other base are produced by stamping waste material out of a metal strip blank to form a number of parallel connectors disposed side by side in a continuous strip and forming each prong which extends from a connector so that it is displaced, in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the connector, with respect to the prong which extends from the adjacent side of the next connector. Portions 2, Fig. 2, are stamped out of a blank 1 leaving connectors 3 joined by webs 4 which are then cut diagonally to form prongs 4b. The blank is pressed to channel shape, Fig. 4, and fed to a press acting similarly to a stapling press, wherein individual connectors are simultaneously severed from the blank along the line A . . A and secured to an electrical device.
