Abstract

477,725. Dressing fish. DANIELSSON, P., and AKTIEBOLAGET G. AREHNS MEKANISKA VERKSTAD. Nov. 17, 1936, No. 31499. [Class 28 (ii)] [Also in Group XXX] Fishes are eviscerated by subjecting them externally to a working or kneading operation to eject a part of the entrails from the cut head end of the fish, and then pulling on the ejected part of the entrails to remove the whole. As shown, the fishes are supplied from a magazine 39, 67 singly to pockets formed by plates 1 on a conveyer 60, the heads of the fishes being correctly positioned by an abutment plate 37 and then removed by the disc knife 51. The working or kneading on the fish may be effected mechanically or hydraulically, or both. Mechanical kneading is effected by rows of rubber fingers 14 carried on a rotary shaft, and is assisted by water-jets from nozzles 30 which jets may be continuous or pulsating. The part of the entrail thus worked out. is moved along, with the fish, by a helically grooved roller 16 and is received between rollers 27, 28 which pull the entrails completely out of the fish. The rollers 27, 28 are cleaned by a water jet 29. The rollers, conveyer and fingers 14 are driven from the shaft 4 through bevels 5, 8, 18, 10, 11 and appropriate belts, the valve controlling the nozzles 30 and, if desired, the nozzles also, being automatically oscillated to produce the pulsations. The magazine hopper 39 extends downwardly from a table 38 and feeds into a compartment having a fixed wall 41 and a wall 40 manually adjustable according to the size of the fishes by a screw 43. A sliding shutter 46 having a discharge opening 47 is operated by each plate 1 as it passes by the cam end 58 of the lever 55 which is pivoted at 54 and connected to the shutter by a rod 56. The passage of the plates 1 moves the shutter to the right and stresses the spring 57. When the cam 58 is released, the spring 57 moves the shutter to the left and brings the opening 47 into the discharge position. At the same time the shutter operates through a spring 52 to swing a flap 48 inwards to retain the fishes above the one being discharged. The fish drops into the pocket beneath the magazine, the pockets being sloped so that the fish slides into contact with the abutment plate 37. The fishes are held in the pockets by holders 31 pivoted to each plate 1 and urged into the holding position by springs. Cams 35, 36 engage arms 33 on the holders 31 to raise the holders for the release and insertion of fishes, respectively.
