[Class 29] The compartment b for an electricallydriven compressor unit c is rendered soundproof by closing it on all sides by a casing m of sound-insulating and preferably heat-conducting material, the pipes f, g connecting the compressor with an air-cooled condenser e passing through packing i. The machine is accessible through a removable cover k with an insulating packing. The evaporator d depends from an intermediate cover plate n. A compartment a, Fig. 2, to accommodate dishes or other articles to be kept warm by the heat of the machine may be provided within the machine chamber, and is of soundinsulating material. The machine compartment may be located at the base of the cabinet. The entire cabinet walls may be of sound insulating material, and parts of the machine compartment where resonance noises are likely to occur may be reinforced. A sound-proof connection to the outer air may be provided to relieve excess pressure in the machine compartment.
