[Class 28 (i)] [Also in Group V] In a device for facilitating the ornamentation of cakes or the like, a turntable A is mounted on a two-part sleeve B revoluble on a shaft C in two parts, hinged together, and resting upon a ball race E. The lower part of the sleeve B carries arms D<1> which carry a rail R. A disc P having ornamentations in relief, or ornamental perforations, is mounted between the table A and the rail R. A column L on the base F carries a bracket M in which are journalled three rollers, i.e. two superposed rollers J, with adjustment means K, for sheeting marzipan fed thereto, and one rubber faced roller S, shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1, for pressing the sheeted marzipan against, or through, the disc P. When a perforated disc P is used, the ornamental pieces are received on an annular plate resting, preferably permanently, on the part D carried by the sleeve B. The rotation of the rollers J, S and of the parts B, D<1>, D, R, P, A is effected by a handle N and bevel and other gearing, the gear wheel H being a free wheel. When a disc P having relief ornamentation is used, the ornamented marzipan sheet is removed, and wound on the cylindrical part of a spool U, Fig. 3. The bracket M is removed from the column L and replaced by an arm, vertically adjustable on the column, which arm serves as a support for a hand palette or template for applying icing to a cake on the table A. The disc P being removed, the table may be tilted into an inclined position as shown in dotted lines, the hinge connection of the parts of the shaft C being kept in the desired position by the insertion of a wedge. The two parts of the sleeve B have interengaging gear teeth so that the rotation of the bottom part of the sleeve is imparted to the top part in all positions of adjustment. The cake is maintained on the table by radially adjustable holding plates. When the cake is iced, the arm is removed from the column and the apparatus shown in Fig. 3, is placed thereon. The marzipan from the spool U is applied to the revolving cake and is pressed thereon by the brush V. The spool and the brush are adjustable along their shafts.
